Sensory Processing

The Better Together Alliance has developed a two day programme for teachers working with children and young people in special schools with Sensory Processing needs. This programme has been delivered in 2016 & 2017 at Osborne School in Winchester. Day 1:

Introduction to the course

  • the science of sensory processing

  • barriers to effective sensory processing

  • what is available to support development of effective sensory processing

 

In between Day 1 and Day 2 participants would be required to observe their students, begin to identify their sensory difficulties and carry out a sensory audit of the classroom

 

Day 2:

  • refresher from the first day

  • feedback from the homework and further explore strategies

  • action planning for implementing changes in school

 

The programme was delivered through a mixture of theory, small group work, experiential activities. The lead facilitator would be Helen Nunn, Specialist Occupational Therapist.
