Sensory Processing

The Better Together Alliance has developed a two day programme for teachers working with children and young people in special schools with Sensory Processing needs. This programme was held on 28th September and 12th October 2016 at Osborne School in Winchester. Day 1:

Introduction to the course

  • the science of sensory processing

  • barriers to effective sensory processing

  • what is available to support development of effective sensory processing


In between Day 1 and Day 2 participants would be required to observe their students, begin to identify their sensory difficulties and carry out a sensory audit of the classroom


Day 2:

  • refresher from the first day

  • feedback from the homework and further explore strategies

  • action planning for implementing changes in school


The programme was delivered through a mixture of theory, small group work, experiential activities. The lead facilitator would be Helen Nunn, Specialist Occupational Therapist.
